No. 4 Duke 62, Boston College 61: Mason Plumlee scored 19 points, the last coming on a free throw with 25 seconds remaining that gave the visiting Blue Devils the lead for good in the ACC game.

Seth Curry finished with 18 points for Duke (21-2, 8-2 ACC), which is in good position to take over the top spot in the USA Today Top 25 coaches’ poll.

Olivier Hanlan scored 20 points for Boston College (10-13, 2-8), but missed a pull-up jumper in the lane with seven seconds remaining, enabling Duke to avoid the upset. Ryan Anderson added 17 points for the Eagles.

Duke, which couldn’t travel to Boston College until Sunday morning because of a blizzard in the Northeast, appeared ready to put the Eagles away after taking a 48-42 lead with 8:56 left, but Boston College kept coming back, eventually taking a 57-55 lead on Anderson’s putback with 4:51 left.

Two free throws by Hanlan with 2:15 remaining stretched the lead to 61-56, but Quinn Cook sank a 3-pointer for Duke and Plumlee made two free throws with 46 seconds left to tie the score at 61. Plumlee was then fouled after grabbing his 10th rebound and made one of two from the line to give the Blue Devils the lead for good.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Duke went scoreless the first five minutes of the game and trailed by as many as eight points in the first half. … Eight of the 12 games in this series since Boston College joined the ACC have been decided by 10 points or less. The Blue Devils are 11-1 overall against the Eagles in ACC play. … Duke entered the game sixth in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.44). The Blue Devils finished with 12 assists and 13 turnovers.
