Maryland 71, Monmouth 38: Alex Len had 14 points and 10 rebounds, and the host Terrapins shot 58.1 percent from the field in extending their winning streak to nine.

Nick Faust had 16 points to lead the Terrapins (9-1), who improved to 7-0 at home. Len added five blocks.

Maryland jumped out to a 10-point lead in the first 4:32, with James Padgett scoring five of his nine points in the 15-5 opening run. Monmouth responded with a 9-2 run to close to within three with eight minutes to play in the first half, but managed only seven points the rest of the half as the Terrapins opened a 10-point lead at the break and the Hawks never got closer.

The Hawks couldn't get much offense going thanks to a Maryland defense that held them to 20.6 percent shooting from the field. Khalil Brown was the only Monmouth player in double figures, finishing with 10 points.

Maryland's Pe'Shon Howard finished with only three points but dished out seven assists.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Monmouth won the turnover battle, forcing the Terrapins into 22 turnovers to 12 for the Hawks. It was the eighth time in 11 games this season that a Monmouth opponent had 20 or more turnovers. … Maryland outrebounded its 10th straight opponent, 43-27. ... The Terrapins continue their nine-game homestand when Stony Brook comes to College Park on Dec. 21.
