No. 4 Syracuse 84, Long Beach State 53: C.J. Fair had 16 points and 13 rebounds as the host Orange broke open the game in the final seven minutes of the first half to remain undefeated.

Syracuse (7-0) closed the first half with a 21-6 run to build a 49-29 advantage at the break. Leading 28-21 with 7:11 remaining, the Orange took control as Michael Carter-Williams hit two 3-pointers and Rakeem Christmas added six points during the half-ending surge.

Dan Jennings scored 20 points to lead Long Beach State (3-5). The 49ers shot 29.2 percent from the field.

Carter-Williams had 15 points and 10 assists while Christmas was one of three players to score 11 points for the Orange. Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim won his 897th career game, third all-time in Division I.

Peter Pappageorge added 11 points for the 49ers.
