SAINT MARY’S 67, SAN FRANCISCO 60: Clint Steindl scored a game-high 16 points and the No. 23 Gaels clinched their first outright regular season West Coast Conference championship since 1989, and ended Gonzaga’s streak of consecutive league regular-season titles at 11.

Trailing by two at halftime, the visiting Gaels (25-5, 14-2 West Coast) opened the second half on a 12-2 run and held off a late San Francisco rally to beat the Dons for the 13th straight time.

Cody Doolin scored 13 points and Angelo Caloiaro and Perris Blackwell added 12 apiece for San Francisco (18-12, 8-8 WCC), which was outrebounded 40-24.

The Dons cut Saint Mary’s lead to 63-60 on Michael Williams’ layup with 1:18 to play, but the Gaels hit four of their final five free throws to secure the win.

Saint Mary’s shot 52.2 percent from the field and made 13 of its 16 foul shots.

Matthew Dellavedova, who scored 27 points against the Dons last month, had 14 points and six assists. Rob Jones tallied his 18th double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds, and Brad Waldow had 10 points and 12 boards.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The league title is Saint Mary’s third in program history. … The Gaels will enter the WCC tournament as the No. 1 seed; San Francisco is No. 5. … San Francisco fell to 25-8 at War Memorial Gym since the start of the 2010-11 season. … Saint Mary’s guard Stephen Holt missed his third consecutive games with a sprained knee, but the Gaels are hoping he’ll be available for the WCC tournament.
