Reserve guard C.J. Wilcox scored nine consecutive second-half points for Washington, including two free throws that broke a 76-all tie, as the Huskies held off Seattle 91-83.

The Huskies (10-6) put on a 12-3 surge at the end of the first half to take a 50-37 lead at intermission. Washington, which had beaten Seattle by an average of 30 points each of the last three seasons, seemed to be sitting pretty.

But the Redhawks used a pressing defense to go on a 25-12 run to start the second half.

Nine different Redhawks scored during the surge, with Aaron Broussard’s short jumper at 10:31 tying the game at 62. Meanwhile, Tony Wroten had 11 of the 12 Washington points during that stretch.

Seattle (3-11) hung around for much longer than Washington was comfortable with, pulling into ties at 70-all and 76-all without ever being able to take the lead.

The Redhawks, playing as an independent this season before moving to the WAC, stayed close until Wilcox followed two free throws with a 3-pointer that gave the Huskies command.

Wilcox finished with a career-best 25 points, one more than Wroten, while Aziz N’Diaye had 13 points and 14 rebounds in Washington’s final non-conference game.

Broussard had 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead Seattle, which also got 15 points from Sterling Carter.
