Admiral Schofield posted a career-high 22 points as Tennessee opened its season on Friday night at Knoxville's Thompson-Boling Arena with an 88-53 victory over Presbyterian.

The junior forward from Zion, Ill., was effective from both inside and out en route to posting the second 20-plus point game of his career. Schofield added five rebounds, an assist and a pair of steals.

The Volunteers burst out of the gate with a 28-2 run to start the game. Jordan Bowden led the charge with 15 points in the first half, including going 3 of 3 from beyond the arc.

The Volunteers didn't turn over the ball in the opening half as they took a 46-16 lead into the break.

Rick Barnes' squad finished the night shooting 55.6 from the field and 46.2 from 3-point range.

Tennessee's Grant Williams led all players with seven rebounds, to go along with 14 points. The Volunteers doled out 25 assists, with John Fulkerson leading the way with five.

Davon Bell paced Presbyterian with 20 points, 15 of them coming in the second half, as the Blue Hose were more competitive in the final 20 minutes. The Vols committed eight turnovers in the second half and only outscored Presbyterian by a 35-32 margin after halftime.

Francois Lewis added 10 points and tied Bell with five rebounds for tops on the Blue Hose.

Tennessee has won all three of its games all-time against Presbyterian.
