Notre Dame 93, Mount St. Mary’s 67: Zach Auguste posted 19 points and eight rebounds as the host Fighting Irish routed the Mountaineers.

Jerian Grant and Steve Vasturia each added 19 points for Notre Dame (9-1), which defeated an opponent from the Northeast Conference for the second straight game to improve to 22-0 against the league. Demetrius Jackson contributed 15 points as the Irish shot 59 percent from the field.

Chris Martin drained five triples en route to 19 points for Mount St. Mary’s (2-5), which knocked down a season-high 13 3-pointers and finished its five-game road trip with a 2-3 mark. Will Miller was the only other player in double figures with 12 for the Mountaineers, who fell to 1-23 against ACC foes.

Auguste and Grant combined for nine early points as Notre Dame connected on its first five shots and forced three turnovers to race out to an 11-point advantage less than three minutes into the contest. Mount St. Mary’s managed to rally within 22-18 with 11 1/2 minutes left before the break following consecutive 3-pointers by Martin, but the Irish countered with a 30-4 run to put the game out of reach by intermission.

The Mountaineers cut their deficit to 24 points in the opening seconds of the second half before Notre Dame used a 20-8 surge to increase the gap to as much as 36 with 12:40 remaining. Mount St. Mary’s got no closer than the final margin the rest of the way.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Notre Dame, which entered Tuesday as the nation’s top field-goal shooting team at 55.8 percent, has converted at least half of its shots in all but one game. … The Mountaineers dropped to 26-132 in non-conference road contests since moving to Division I in 1988-89. … The Irish committed eight turnovers – the sixth time this season they have recorded fewer than 10.
