Ismael Massoud hit the go-ahead 3-pointer with 36.1 seconds remaining in overtime and visiting Kansas State held on for a 97-95 win over No. 19 Baylor in Big 12 play on Saturday in Waco, Texas.
Markquis Nowell had a game-high 32 points by going 8 of 16 from the field, including 4 of 7 from 3-point range, as well as hitting 12 of 13 from the free-throw line. He added 14 assists. Keyontae Johnson tallied 24 points and nine rebounds for the Wildcats (14-1, 3-0 Big 12), who have won eight straight.
Massoud finished with 13 points, including five in overtime, with Nae'Qwan Tomlin chipped in nine points and eight rebounds.
Baylor (10-5, 0-3), which has lost three straight, was led by Adam Flagler, who had 23 points and seven assists. Keyonte George had 22 points, with Flo Thamba chipping in 14 points and seven rebounds. Jalen Bridges had 11 points and seven rebounds, with Langston Love finishing with 10 points.
Tied at 86 after regulation, George's two free throws gave Baylor an 88-86 lead with 3:57 remaining before Thamba split a pair of free throws for a three-point lead with 2:56 to play.
Massoud responded by making a pair of free throws to pull Kansas State to 89-88 with 2:30 left, but Flagler's jumper made it 91-88 with 2:09 left.
Nowell hit all three free throws after being fouled while taking a 3-point shot to tie the game at 91 with 1:46 to play.
Thamba regained the lead for Baylor by making a pair of free throws with 1:30 to play, but Nowell's jumper tied the game at 93 just 17 seconds later.
Flagler's jumper with 46.5 seconds left gave Baylor a 95-93 lead before Massoud's 3-pointer regained the lead for the Wildcats with 31.6 seconds remaining.
Flagler turned the ball over with 6.1 seconds remaining.
After Nowell split a pair of free throws with five seconds left, Baylor's Caleb Lohner missed a game-tying 3-pointer as time expired.
After Nowell's two free throws gave Kansas State an 85-81 lead with 39 seconds left, Flagler's two free throws halved the lead five seconds later.
Desi Sills split a pair of free three throws for an 86-83 lead with 32 seconds to go before Bridges' 3-pointer with 22 seconds remaining sent the game into overtime.
