Syracuse led 45-24 at halftime thanks to an 18-0 run to end the session. Oakland didn't score in the final six minutes of the half, while the Orange used their one-sided burst to turn a 27-24 lead into a commanding 21-point advantage.

Edwards' jumper began the surge before Chris Bell threw down a transition dunk. Girard then hit back-to-back 3-pointers to push the lead to 13. Edwards, John Bol Ajak, Girard and Mintz each made a bucket in the final two minutes of the half as the hosts took control of the game.

Girard led all scorers with 15 points in the first half, while Edwards had 12 on 6-of-6 shooting. As a team, Syracuse shot 57.1 percent in the session, while Oakland's first-half shooting issues included 1-of-13 3-point shooting and a 1-of-5 effort from the foul line.

The Orange scored 13 of the first 18 points of the second half to push their lead to 29. Edwards had six points in that stretch, while Mintz contributed four and Girard chipped in a 3-pointer.

Several minutes later, Brown's second-chance layup pushed the lead over 30 for the first time. Benny Williams' dunk with just over five minutes left made it a 41-point game, and the Orange secured their biggest lead at 93-51 on Torrence's 3-pointer with 4:51 to play.
