Jaeden Zackery finished with 18 points, eight rebounds and six assists to lead host Boston College to a convincing 71-55 victory over short-handed Florida State on Monday night at Chestnut Hill, Mass.
Zackery was sharp throughout the game, shooting 7 for 10 from the field to help the Eagles (10-16, 5-11 ACC) snap a five-game losing streak.
The Seminoles (14-13, 7-10) lost for the eighth time in their past nine games as they once again played without four of their regular starters.
Brevin Galloway connected on 4 of 12 3-pointers to finish with 14 points.
But it was Boston College's defense, which allowed it to take control early and lead wire-to-wire.
The Eagles scored 23 points off 19 Florida State turnovers and started that trend early as they scored the first 11 points of the game while jumping out to a 15-3 lead.
Zackery also led the effort on that end by finishing with five steals. James Karnik was also a factor inside with a lot of physical play as he totaled 16 points and 11 rebounds.
The physicality led to technical fouls being called on both Florida State's Jalen Warley and Boston College's Quentin Post with 3:32 left in the first half after the players exchanged words at midcourt following a hard foul by Post on Florida State's John Butler.
The Eagles led by as many as 21 points in the second half as Post also had 10 points and five rebounds.
The Seminoles, who were already without Malik Osborne and Naheem McLeod for the remainder of the season, continued to play without injured starters Anthony Polite and leading scorer Caleb Mills.
Matthew Cleveland scored in double figures for the sixth consecutive game as he continues to step up for the Seminoles during their injury-plagued season. Cleveland finished with 18 points and eight rebounds.
Cam'Ron Fletcher also had a strong effort with 16 points, five rebounds and four steals.
