PJ Pipes, Jalen Williams and Josip Vrankic combined for four 3-pointers during an early 21-point flurry Friday night that propelled host Santa Clara to an 88-72 romp over Stanford in a nonconference game.

Pipes finished with a game-high 24 points, Williams 19 and Vrankic 16 for the Broncos (2-0), who snapped a three-game losing streak to the Cardinal (1-1) with their first win in the matchup of regional rivals since 2006.

Harrison Ingram paced Stanford with 19 points.

Seeking to build upon an opening 62-50 home win over Tarleton State, Stanford went up 5-0 on a Jaiden Delaire layup and Ingram 3-pointer.

But Williams buried a 3-pointer at the 17:52 mark of the first half to get Santa Clara on the scoreboard, and the Broncos were off and running.

Pipes had eight points, Vrankic seven, Williams four and Parker Braun two in the 21-0 burst that lasted 7:16 and gave Santa Clara a 16-point lead.

The Broncos retained a 45-32 advantage at halftime, and Stanford never got closer than 10 in the second half.

Pipes (4-for-5) and Williams (4-for-8) combined for eight 3-pointers, one more than the entire Stanford team, as the Broncos shot 12-for-25 from beyond the arc.

Vrankic, who had 29 points in Tuesday's 84-77 home win over Cal State Fullerton, dished off a game-high eight assists.

Keshawn Justice pulled a game-high 13 rebounds to complete a double-double with 14 points for the Broncos, who haven't made the NCAA Tournament since 1996.

Ingram led Stanford in scoring for the second straight game. He shot 3-for-7 on 3-pointers, while his teammates went a combined 4-for-18.

Maxime Raynaud had 16 points, Michael O'Connell 13 to go with four steals, and Isa Silva 12 points for the Cardinal, who had beaten Santa Clara 82-64 in their last head-to-head in November of 2019.

Raynaud completed a double-double with a team-high 10 rebounds.
