Charlie Moore posted 25 points, six assists and five rebounds to lead host Miami to its eighth straight victory, 88-87 over Syracuse in an ACC game on Wednesday night.
Miami (12-3, 4-0 ACC) rallied from an 18-point first-half deficit, scoring 58 points after intermission.
Hurricanes guard Isaiah Wong, who scored all 14 of his points in the second half, missed his first free throw but made the second one with 3.2 seconds left to ice the game, 88-84. Syracuse hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer.
Kameron McGusty added 19 points for Miami, and Jordan Miller had 11 points, eight rebounds and six steals.
Syracuse (7-7, 1-2) was led by Joseph Girard III, who had 26 points and made 7-of-12 3-pointers.
Jesse Edwards had a monster game for the Orange with 22 points, eight rebounds and a career-high seven blocks. He fouled out with 46 seconds left. Syracuse's Cole Swider added 20 points on 6-for-9 shooting from deep.
Syracuse's Buddy Boeheim, the ACC's fourth-leading scorer at 19.5 points, fouled out with 1:32 left in the game. He scored just nine points on 2-for-7 shooting. Brother Jimmy Boeheim added seven points on 2-for-7 shooting. He also went 2-for-5 on free throws, continuing his struggles there.
Syracuse led by as many as 18 points early and took a 44-30 advantage into halftime.
Miami shot just 34.3 percent from the floor in the opening 20 minutes, including 4-of-14 on 3-pointers. Syracuse shot 53.1 percent, including 9-for-15 on 3-pointers (60 percent). The Orange also had a 14-5 edge on assists.
Edwards led all first-half scorers with 14 points and Girard added 12. Moore did his best to keep Miami in the game with his 13 points on 5-for-7 shooting, including a trio of 3-pointers.
Miami started the second half with two consecutive 3-pointers, by Sam Waardenburg and Moore, forcing a Syracuse timeout.
The Canes kept coming, though, taking their first lead of the second half on Bensley Joseph's 3-pointer with 14:51 left, putting Miami up 50-48.
Miami made its first six 3-point tries of the second half and made enough plays down the stretch to win the game.
Syracuse turned the ball over 19 times to just 10 for Miami.
