Xavier Johnson added 13 points and three assists for the Hoosiers, while Race Thompson posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Indiana stretched its lead to as many as 41 points in the second half before playing its reserves for the final 10 minutes.
The seven blocks for Jackson-Davis were three shy of a school record, set by Steve Downing, who had 10 blocks in a game against Michigan during the 1970-71 season.
NIU, coming off a 71-64 upset win over Washington, couldn't muster the same magic facing another Power Five opponent. Keshawn Williams led NIU with 21 points.
Indiana effectively bottled up Trendon Hankerson, who was held to just three points on 1-of-7 shooting. Hankerson scored 28 points on 6-of-11 shooting from 3-point range in the upset against Washington.
Overall, Indiana's defense remained on point for the entire game, holding Northern Illinois to just 30.4 percent from the floor and 2-of-11 shooting from 3-point range. Northern Illinois made 12 3-pointers in its upset at Washington.
Jackson-Davis had 17 points and six blocks in the first half, helping Indiana build a 47-20 halftime lead. The Hoosiers shot 51.7 percent from the field in the first half, scoring nearly half of their 15 baskets off seven assists.
Johnson was equally as effective in the first half with 13 points and three assists. Johnson sank a 3-pointer to give Indiana an early 14-7 lead, then extended Indiana's lead to 29-11 later in the first half on a steal and breakaway dunk.
Defensively, Indiana stayed locked in during the first half, holding NIU to just 23.8 percent shooting.
NIU's Zool Kueth was whistled for a flagrant two foul and ejected late in the first half for pushing Jackson-Davis in the back as he was racing down the court in transition.
