Kyle Owens' 13 points led a balanced-scoring performance for Montana in its 66-58 win over Washington on Wednesday night in Seattle.
It is Montana's first win over a Pac-12 program since a 71-66 win over Oregon State on Dec. 15, 2010. The Grizzlies snapped a 14-game losing streak against Pac-12 teams.
Montana's previous win against Washington was Nov. 28, 1994.
Four other players scored in double figures for Montana (2-4). They were Josh Vazquez (12 points), Josh Bannan (12), Michael Steadman (11) and Brandon Whitney (10).
Washington (1-5) was beset by its free-throw shooting (8 of 19), foul trouble (starters Nate Roberts and Quade Green fouled out), and its turnovers (16). The Huskies also went 2 of 12 from 3-point range.
Nate Pryor and Nate Roberts led the Huskies with 13 points each and Riley Sorn added 10, all in the second half on 4-of-4 shooting. Pryor and Sorn are reserves.
Washington's 10-0 run, capped by six straight points by Sorn on two dunks and a putback, cut Montana's lead to 44-43 with 9:48 left in regulation.
The Huskies led 51-50, their first lead of the game since 15:15 remained in the first half, when Jamal Bey made one of two free throw attempts with 4:36 left in regulation.
Montana then went on a 10-0 run of its own to pull away to a 61-53 lead with 1:43 remaining.
The Grizzlies built a 33-21 lead at halftime taking advantage of Washington's 12 turnovers and by drawing fouls resulting in a 10-point edge at the free throw line.
The Grizzlies scored 10 points off the turnovers and made 11 of 12 of their free throw attempts in the first half compared to Washington's 1-of-7 performance.
Hameir Wright and Green each had three personal fouls by halftime.
Montana built as much as a 15-point lead in the first half after a 13-3 run enabled the Grizzlies to take a 21-10 lead with 8:14 remaining.
