David McCormack scored in double figures for the eighth time in the past nine games, recording 17 points Saturday as No. 23 Kansas downed No. 15 Texas Tech 67-61 at Lawrence, Kan.

McCormack made his first seven attempts from the field, finished 7-for-10, and added eight rebounds as the Jayhawks (17-7, 11-5 Big 12) won their fifth straight game while beginning a closing stretch of three games in a row against ranked Big 12 opponents.

Kansas followed an 8-0 run early in the second half with a 3-pointer by Ochai Agbaji to make the score 45-34 with nearly 14 minutes remaining.

The Red Raiders (14-7, 6-6), playing their first game since Feb. 9 following three consecutive postponements, drew to 64-61 on a 3-pointer by Terrence Shannon with 44 seconds left.

A 3-pointer with 21 seconds left by Christian Braun, however, thwarted Texas Tech's comeback bid. Braun finished with 10 points as each Kansas starter netted double figures.

Jalen Wilson posted his fifth double-double in six games with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Agbaji added 14 points, including a 3-pointer that made it 62-51 and prompted Texas Tech coach Chris Beard to use his final timeout with 3:51 left. Marcus Garrett provided 10 points and five assists as the Jayhawks committed just six turnovers.

Mac McClung, the Big 12's top scorer (19.5) in conference play, struggled to find open looks and finished with 11 points as Texas Tech shot just 42.3 percent from the field. Marcus Santos-Silva and Kevin McCullar scored 12 points each and added eight and seven rebounds, respectively.

McCormack, the Jayhawks' leading scorer in conference play with a 13.7-point average entering the game, made all five field goals he attempted in the first half.

His 12 points helped Kansas establish a 31-25 halftime margin. The Jayhawks facilitated their 11 first-half field goals with nine assists, including four by Garrett.

Texas Tech dropped to 1-19 all-time in games at Kansas.
