Kansas State held Oklahoma 19 points below its season average in a wire-to-wire 61-53 victory Wednesday in Manhattan, Kan.

The Wildcats (9-11, 2-5 Big 12) have won eight straight games over the Sooners (13-7, 3-4) in Manhattan. Oklahoma has dropped four of the past six games overall while Kansas State won for just the second time in eight games.

Kansas State was led by Mike McGuirl with a season-high-tying 16 points off the bench. McGuirl hit 3 of 4 from 3-point range. Xavier Sneed added 12 points and Cartier Diarra had 10. Makol Mawien led the Wildcats with 10 rebounds.

Oklahoma was led by Alondes Williams with 15 points. Austin Reaves had 12 points, and Kristian Doolittle grabbed 11 rebounds for the Sooners.

OU's top three scorers, averaging 45.5 combined points per game, were held to just 23. Brady Manek (averaging 15.7 points per game) had 5 points, Doolittle (15.4) had 6 to go with Reaves' (14.4) 12.

Oklahoma, which averages a Big 12-low 10 turnovers per game, gave the ball away 19 times.

The Sooners, who started ice cold in the first half and trailed by six at the break, began the second half 0-for-7 from the field. They did not score a point until Kur Kuath hit a free throw with 14:35 left. Oklahoma shot just 35.3 percent from the field for the game, including 19 percent (4 of 21) from 3-point range.

Oklahoma missed its first eight shots of the night before Kuath finally scored on a follow slam to cut Kansas State's lead to 14-6 with 11:23 to go in the half. The Sooners didn't reach double figures until the 7:57 mark on two free throws by Williams.

The Wildcats led by as many as 13 points in the first half, but missing 12 of their last 13 field-goal tries allowed Oklahoma to get back into the game. Kansas State led 28-22 at intermission, the 22 points representing the lowest first-half total of the season for the Sooners.

Kansas State hit 37.1 percent of its field-goal attempts, including 6 of 23 (37.1 percent) of its 3-point shots. The Wildcats committed eight turnovers.
