Northwestern ran its all-time record against Chicago State to 11-0 while holding off a second-half surge from the Cougars to secure a 68-64 victory on Wednesday at Welsh-Ryan Arena in Evanston, Ill.

Vic Law scored 18 points, Bryant McIntosh had 14 and Scottie Lindsey added 13 as the Wildcats (8-2) won their 19th consecutive non-conference home game.

Fred Sims Jr. scored 22 points -- including seven 3 pointers -- while Travyon Palmer had 18 and Anthony Eaves added 12 as Chicago State (3-7) dropped its third straight.

The Wildcats opened a 29-21 lead by halftime behind Law's 10 points and led 39-25 in the second half before Chicago State battled back into contention.

The Cougars hit five 3 pointers -- including two by Sims --in an 22-7 surge for a 47-46 lead on a Sims free throw with 9:43 showing. They maintained a 52-50 edge after Palmer's dunk with 8:06 remaining.

Northwestern bounced back to tie the game on two Lindsey free throws and reclaimed the lead at 54-52 with Bryant's jumper with 6:07 remaining.

Chicago State remained within striking distance and cut the Northwestern lead to 68-64 on a Sims' 3-pointer with 14 seconds left. Sims missed another 3-point try with six seconds showing.

Northwestern shot 42.6 percent from the field and hit eight 3-pointers. Chicago State shot 40.4 percent, including 13 for 26 from beyond the arc.
