Emmett Naar wasn't overly concerned with his scoring output Wednesday night.

The Saint Mary's junior guard was just happy there were plenty of teammates who joined him in double digits.

Naar had 16 points and 11 assists as one of seven Gaels to score 10 or more points as No. 17 Saint Mary's rolled to a 110-72 victory over Prairie View A&M in a nonconference game in Moraga, Calif.

Naar was 7 of 8 from the field to pace the well-balanced attack as the Gaels (2-0) topped 100 points for the first time since a 120-67 rout of Jackson State on Dec. 10, 2012.

"I don't think anyone scored 20, which is pretty good," Naar said. "Having a deep bench like that is amazing. For the other team, it's more guys to worry about, more guys to scout. It just adds a lot to our team."

Sophomore guard Stefan Gonzalez scored 14 points off the bench, and junior center Jock Landale and backup freshman guard Tanner Krebs added 13 apiece for Saint Mary's.

Backup freshman guard Jordan Ford and backup sophomore forward Kyle Clark had 12 points apiece, and junior forward Calvin Hermanson added 10 for the Gaels.

Junior guard L.J. Westbrook scored 13 points to lead Prairie View A&M (1-2). Senior guard Daquan Cook and junior forward Zachary Hamilton added 12 apiece.

"We kept fighting the best we could," Prairie View coach Byron Smith said. "There's something to be said for playing a talented team like that. It gets you ready."

Naar received plenty of help from his teammates as Saint Mary's shot 57.4 percent from the field and committed just six turnovers.

Gonzalez, who made 5 of 6 from the field, and Krebs each made three 3-pointers as the Gaels went 14 of 32 from behind the arc.

Sophomore center Evan Fitzner contributed 13 rebounds for Saint Mary's, which possessed a 47-21 edge on the boards.

Though the Gaels cruised to the victory, coach Randy Bennett was miffed that his squad allowed the Panthers to shoot 44.6 percent from the field.

"We need to get better defensively," Bennett said. "We're not good enough."

The Gaels led by 17 points at the break but quickly saw the Panthers pull within 12 on Westbrook's three-point play in the opening minute of the second half.

Landale answered with a three-point play, and Naar nailed a 3-pointer during an 8-0 run that pushed the margin to 62-42. Naar added another 3-pointer to make it 69-46 with 15:35 remaining.

The Panthers scored the next six points with Cook capping the run with a four-point play. Prairie View pulled within 71-56 on senior guard Tevin Bellinger's two free throws with 12:02 to play.

That was the last time the Panthers threatened to make it a game. Gonzalez hit one 3-pointer, Krebs followed with two 3-pointers and senior forward Dane Pineau scored on the inside during an 11-0 surge that gave the Gaels an 82-56 lead with 9:24 remaining.

The lead reached 40 on sophomore center Jordan Hunter's three-point play with 3:21 to play and topped out at 42 points.

Clark had 10 points in the first half to help the Gaels to a 54-37 lead at the break.

NOTES: Junior C Jock Landale's 33-point performance in the season-opening win over Nevada was the highest point total by a member of the Gaels since Stephen Holt scored 35 against Santa Clara during the 2013-14 season. ... Byron Smith is coach of the Panthers after finishing last season as the interim coach. He went 6-6 in 12 games. ... Saint Mary's junior G Emmett Naar had just six points against Nevada before being the high scorer against the Panthers. ... Saint Mary's visits Dayton on Saturday, and Prairie View continues a season-opening, four-game road trip against Texas-San Antonio on Saturday.
