Senior guard J.J. Frazier scored 28 points and made key plays on both ends of the court as Georgia knocked off Alabama 60-55 Thursday at Coleman Coliseum in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

Georgia never trailed but almost saw its double-digit lead erased midway through the second half.

Alabama was within one and had the ball with just under five minutes to play, but Frazier made a momentum-shifting play with a steal that led to a layup and put the Bulldogs ahead 54-51.

Frazier scored 10 consecutive Georgia points in a key late stretch that led to the big SEC road win for the Bulldogs, whose hopes of earning an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament were dwindling.

The loss is a big one for Alabama, which has been teetering on the NCAA Tournament bubble discussion as well.

Junior guard Ar'Mond Davis had 17 points off the bench, and freshman forward Braxton Key added 16 points for the Crimson Tide (16-11, 9-6 SEC). Alabama had its two-game winning streak snapped.

The Bulldogs (15-12, 6-8 SEC) were playing their first game since top big man Yante Maten sustained a knee injury in a loss to Kentucky on Saturday. Maten is out indefinitely.

Georgia jumped out to an early lead. Frazier hit a pair of free throws that put the Bulldogs up 12-4 with 12 minutes left in the first half. The visitors went into halftime with a 30-18 lead.

Alabama opened the second half with a 22-10 run and trailed just 45-42 at the 10-minute mark of the second half.

The Crimson Tide shot 33.3 percent from the field overall and did not hit a field goal in the last two minutes of the game. The Bulldogs shot 46.9 percent from the floor.

Georgia hosts LSU on Saturday. The Crimson Tide will try to bounce back at Texas A&M on Saturday.
