Arizona State guard Tra Holder scored a career-high 23 points and ignited a key second-half surge as the Sun Devils wrapped up nonconference play with a 75-59 victory over Cal State Bakersfield on Monday night in Tempe, Ariz.

Holder hit four of five 3-point shots, had five rebounds and three steals. He hit a trio of 3-pointers in about a three-minute span of the second half to fuel a 14-6 run that gave ASU a 54-46 lead with 7:27 to go.

The Roadrunners (8-5) were within 61-55 before ASU guard Andre Spight converted a four-point play with 2:07 left to help seal the victory. The Sun Devils (10-3) made seven of 11 3-point attempts in the second half.

Holder is averaging 17.5 points in the past six games.

CSUB center Aly Ahmed scored 19 points, taking advantage of foul trouble for ASU center Eric Jacobsen, who picked up his fourth with 17:43 to play. The Roadrunners had a 46-29 edge on the boards, becoming only the third team to outrebound the Sun Devils.

ASU guard Gerry Blakes had 15 points and seven rebounds. Spight and forward Willie Atwood finished with 10 points.

Bakersfield forward Kevin Mays had a game-high 10 rebounds but was one of 11 shooting. CSUB forward Jaylin Airington scored 12 points.

Sun Devils forward Savon Goodman, averaging 12.4 points and a team-high 7.9 rebounds, missed his fourth consecutive game for what has been described as "personal reasons."

ASU will open Pac-12 play Sunday at home against eighth-ranked Arizona.
