Junior forward Nikola Jovanovic recorded his fourth double-double of the season to lead USC to a 70-51 victory over visiting SIU Edwardsville on Monday night at the Galen Center in Los Angeles, Calif.

Jovanovic had 21 points and 16 rebounds for USC (10-2), which has won five in a row. Sophomore guard Jordan McLaughlin had 12 points and six rebounds.

Freshman guard Carlos Anderson and sophomore forward Jalen Henry scored 10 points apiece for SIU Edwardsville (3-8).

The Cougars took a 12-10 lead on a layup by senior forward Yemi Makanjuola with 12:09 to play in the first period. The Trojans responded with a 10-0 run to take a 20-12 lead. They went on to outscore the Cougars 15-2 over the final 4:42 to carry a 39-21 lead into the break.

The Cougars trimmed the deficit to 12 on a couple of occasions midway through the second half, but the Trojans staged an 8-0 run to take a 62-42 lead with 6:37 to play. The Cougars got within 13 with 5:05 remaining, but they couldn't get any closer.

The Trojans shot just 36.9 percent from the field, but they held the Cougars to 27.9 percent shooting.
