Baylor guard Lester Medford hit a 3-pointer in the corner in the final minute to lift the 25th-ranked Bears over 16th-ranked Vanderbilt 69-67 on Sunday night at the Ferrell Center in Waco, Texas.

Medford hit the crucial basket with 42 seconds left. He was fouled on the play but missed the free throw that would have made it a four-point trip.

It didn't matter, though, as Vanderbilt failed to score on its final two trips down the floor. Commodores guards Riley LaChance and Nolan Cresser each missed jump shots that would have tied the game in the final 10 seconds.

Guard Al Freeman grabbed the final rebound to secure the win for Baylor (6-1).

Baylor forward Taurean Prince scored a career-high 30 points to lead both teams. Medford finished with 15 and five assists for the Bears.

Wade Baldwin scored 19 points to lead Vanderbilt (6-2). Commodores center Damian Jones had nine points, eight rebounds and six assists.

Prince poured in 19 points in the first half, including 16 points during the Bears 18-8 first-half run that gave them a 32-24 edge.

But Vanderbilt fought back as Cressler and LaChance each hit 3-pointers in the final 1:07 of the first half. That cut Baylor's lead to 34-32 at the break.

Vanderbilt built a 52-39 lead midway through the second half when Baldwin hit a 3-pointer at the 11:55 mark. But Baylor immediately responded with a 13-0 run, punctuated by forward Ishmail Wainwright's dunk.
