Tulane was forced into overtime for the second consecutive game, but this time Tulane came out on top, beating Drake 79-74 at the Devlin Fieldhouse in New Orleans on Monday.

Tulane (1-1) had lost its opener to Alabama A&M in overtime on Friday.

Senior guard Louis Dabney, who joined Tulane's 1,000-point club in last week's opening loss, and junior Malik Morgan, an LSU transfer, finished with 18 points apiece for the winners.

Jernard Jarreau, a fifth-year graduate student transfer from Washington, also reached double figures for Tulane with 12 points.

Drake (1-1) was paced by the backcourt combo of Graham Woodward (20 points) and Reed Timmer (19 points).

Morgan was a stat-sheet stuffer for the victorious Green Wave, adding six rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Forward Dyan Osetkowski, a 6-9 sophomore, and Kain Harris, a prize freshman guard from Chicago, chipped in seven points apiece for Tulane.

The Green Wave overcame an eight-point deficit with just eight minutes left in regulation -- the largest lead by either team -- to force overtime.

A basket by Dabney with 3:06 left in overtime put Tulane ahead to stay.

Tulane, which travels to nearby Southern University on Nov. 19, shot just 17 for 29 from the free-throw line.
