The Hoyas led by as many as 11 in the first half, but Utah erased the deficit with a 14-2 run - bookended by 3-pointers from Tucker and Taylor - before settling for a 32-32 tie at the break. The Utes exploded from beyond the arc when Loveridge drilled a 3 on his first shot and Taylor, who had five assists, followed with a pair from long range to make it 43-36, but Georgetown responded with Copeland's 3-pointer and Peak's three-point play with 15:34 remaining.

The Hoyas forged three ties - the last with 7:01 to play - before jumpers by Tucker and Loveridge gave Utah a 57-53 lead and Taylor's 3-pointer with 2:47 left stretched the advantage to 64-57. Smith-Rivera's bucket cut the deficit to 64-59, but the Utes sealed the victory by scoring the next five points.
