No. 14 Kansas 75, No. 18 Texas 62:
Brannen Greene hit four 3-pointers and scored 14 points off the bench as the visiting Jayhawks upended the Longhorns for the seventh time in their last eight meetings.

Freshman Cliff Alexander contributed 15 points and nine rebounds while Perry Ellis also chipped in 14 points for Kansas (16-3, 5-1 Big 12), which tied a school record with only three turnovers – including none in the second half. Frank Mason III tallied 12 points to round out the balanced scoring effort for the Jayhawks.

Isaiah Taylor poured in a season-high 23 points for Texas (14-5, 3-3), which recorded nine blocks but could not overcome a 3-of-18 effort beyond the arc. Jonathan Holmes, who went 2-of-5 from the 3-point line, finished with 14 points and was the only other Longhorn in double figures.

Holmes and Taylor combined for eight points as Texas raced out to an 11-2 advantage less than four minutes into the contest, but Greene sparked a 9-0 surge as Kansas held the lead for much of the final 10 minutes of the first half. Taylor drained two free throws with 0.7 seconds left before intermission and added a pair of buckets in the first two-plus minutes of the second half during a sequence in which the lead changed hands seven times.

Trailing by five with 14 ½ minutes left, Wayne Selden Jr. and Greene capped an 8-0 surge to put Kansas in front for good while Greene’s final 3-pointer of the game ignited a 9-2 run that pushed the Jayhawks’ margin to double figures for the first time at 62-52 with just under five minutes remaining. Taylor scored Texas’ last eight points, but the Longhorns could not get closer than nine points thereafter.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Kansas committed three turnovers only one other time in school history, recording three giveaways against Iowa State on Jan. 15, 1966. … Texas has rejected at least eight shots 12 times this season. … Alexander is averaging 14 points and 11 rebounds in the two games since he was benched by Kansas coach Bill Self for a lack of hustle for most of the second half in the Jayhawks’ loss at Iowa State last Saturday.
