No. 8 Villanova 90, St. John's 72: Darrun Hilliard II scored 17 of his 21 points in the second half as the Wildcats notched a road win.

Dylan Ennis contributed 15 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three steals for Villanova (14-1, 2-1 Big East), which outscored St. John's 56-37 while shooting 20-of-29 from the floor - 7-of-12 from long range - in the second half. The Wildcats dominated on the boards 41-21 thanks in large part to Daniel Ochefu (13 points, 13 rebounds) and Ennis, whose previous career high was six boards.

D'Angelo Harrison scored 25 points and Phil Greene IV notched 14 points for St. John's (11-4, 0-3), which has lost three straight. Jamal Branch and Sir'Dominic Pointer pitched in nine points apiece as the Red Storm recorded only eight assists on 28 baskets.

Ennis' layup tied things at 54 midway through the second half, igniting a 9-0 run that included five points from Hilliard. Ochefu later scored eight straight Villanova points to push the advantage to 74-61 before Hilliard made a 3-pointer and dunked to help keep the Red Storm at a comfortable distance.

Harrison (16 points) and Greene (11) led all scorers in the first half as St. John's led 35-34 at the break. Josh Hart's 3-pointer put Villanova ahead 47-43 about 4 1/2 minutes into the second half, but St. John's scored the next seven points, starting with a 3-pointer by Greene.

GAME NOTEBOOK: St. John's G Rysheed Jordan, who had missed the previous game to attend to a personal matter, returned but managed only two points on 0-of-6 shooting. ...
