No. 9 Texas 59, Texas State 27: Cameron Ridley scored a game-high 14 points and the Longhorns set a modern-era team record for fewest points allowed in a game in routing the visiting Bobcats.

Javan Felix had 10 points, Demarcus Holland scored nine, Myles Turner added eight and Connor Lammert contributed seven points and 10 rebounds for the Longhorns (8-1), who bounced back from a loss to top-ranked Kentucky to post their 13th straight home victory. Texas, which bettered the post-1950 program record of 31 points allowed to SMU in 1952, held Texas State to season lows in scoring and field-goal percentage (21.6 percent).

Cameron Naylor had eight points and Emani Gant and Kavin Gilder-Tilbury added six apiece for the Bobcats (5-2), who were outrebounded 45-21 and saw their three-game win streak come to a halt. Texas State came into the game averaging 69.2 points and shooting 48.4 percent from the field.

Offense was hard to come by on both ends early as Texas held an 8-5 lead 10:48 into the contest but the Longhorns started to solve the Texas State zone and closed out the half with a 16-4 run to take a 24-9 lead into the break. The nine points were also the fewest the Longhorns have allowed in a half in school history, as the visitors connected on only four of 25 shots in the opening 20 minutes.

Texas squashed any comeback hopes by scoring the first five and 14 of the first 18 points in the second half to take a 38-13 lead. The Bobcats would get no closer than 23 points the rest of the way.

GAME NOTEBOOK: It was Texas’ 26th straight win against Texas State since a 33-31 loss in 1937. … Turnovers continue to be a problem for the Longhorns, who had 19 against the Bobcats and 41 total over the last two contests. … Texas State assistant coach Terrence Rencher, the Longhorns’ all-time leading scorer with 2,306 points from 1991-95, was honored during a pre-game tribute.
