St. John's 72, DePaul 64: D'Angelo Harrison recorded 25 points, 10 rebounds and four assists as the host Red Storm held off a late rally by the Blue Demons.

Sir'Dominic Pointer added 14 points for St. John's (19-11, 9-8 Big East), which shot 51.1 percent from the field. Orlando Sanchez chipped in with 13 points and eight rebounds in a reserve role while Chris Obekpa registered a game-high 11 rebounds and five blocks for the Red Storm, who won the battle of the boards 43-26.

Brandon Young led the way with 23 points and four assists for DePaul (11-19, 3-14), which has lost 11 of its last 12 games. Billy Garrett Jr. posted 12 points and four steals while Forrest Robinson secured a team-high five rebounds for the Blue Demons.

Harrison scored eight early points as St. John's sped out to a 16-4 lead and the Red Storm held DePaul to just 30 percent shooting in the first half to take a 33-21 edge into the break. It was more of the same in the second stanza as Sanchez converted a three-point play to stretch St. John's advantage to 20 with just over 15 minutes remaining.

The Blue Demons refused to go away as Jamee Crockett came off the bench to key an 18-4 run to trim the deficit to six with under nine minutes left. R.J. Curington knocked down a triple to pull DePaul within 57-54 before Harrison's layup put the Red Storm on top 63-56 as they went on to secure their ninth win in the last 10 meetings with the Blue Demons.

GAME NOTEBOOK: St. John's G Rysheed Jordan sat out the game while grieving the death of a close relative. … DePaul finished 10-of-23 from beyond the arc and has made at least one 3-point field goal in 641 straight games. … The Red Storm came into the contest leading the nation with 7.6 blocks per game and finished with 14.
