Michael Dixon Jr. scored 18 points off the bench and keyed a late run as the Tigers came back to clip the visiting Cardinals.

Geron Johnson scored 15 points and Austin Nichols added 14 for Memphis (22-7, 11-5 AAC), which completed a season sweep of Louisville (24-5, 13-3). Chris Crawford hit four 3-pointers en route to 12 points and Shaq Goodwin made up for a 1-of-11 shooting effort with 10 rebounds for the Tigers.

Montrezl Harrell collected 25 points and 12 rebounds for the Cardinals, who had a seven-game winning streak come to an end. Russ Smith scored 19 points but sat out long stretches of the second half due to foul trouble before recording his fifth in the final minute.

Harrell’s emphatic dunk with just under five minutes left gave Louisville a 65-57 advantage before Dixon scored six straight points, Johnson added a bucket and Crawford nailed a 3-pointer to put Memphis back on top. Goodwin’s free throw stretched the run to 12-0 before Chris Jones split a pair to end the drought for the Cardinals, but the Tigers closed it out at the line.

Memphis finished the first half on a 7-1 run to take a six-point lead into the break, but Harrell scored six points in a 13-4 burst beginning the second to put the Cardinals on top. The Tigers grabbed a 49-48 lead on Goodwin’s layup with just over 11 minutes left before Harrell knocked down his second 3-pointer of the season as the shot clock was winding down on the ensuing possession and added a layup for a four-point edge.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Memphis F David Pellom was hit with a flagrant-1 foul for a hard shove at Louisville F Stephan Van Treese with 6:33 left. … The Cardinals fell to 1-5 against ranked teams. … Louisville remained in a tie for first place in the AAC with Cincinnati, which also lost Saturday at Connecticut.
