Virginia Tech 52, Miami (Fla.) 45: Devin Wilson and C.J. Barksdale each scored 12 points as the host Hokies snapped a 10-game losing streak.

Trevor Thompson added eight points and a career-high 12 rebounds while Wilson chipped in with nine assists for Virginia Tech (9-15, 2-10 ACC). The Hokies, who opened conference play with a 61-60 overtime victory at Miami on Dec. 8, won for just the second time in 14 games while completing a regular-season series sweep of the defending ACC champion.

Garrius Adams led Miami (12-13, 3-9) with 13 points and Rion Brown added 12 and 10 rebounds. The Hurricanes shot just 25.9 percent from the floor, going a dismal 7-of-34 from 3-point range.

Miami, which went almost eight minutes without a point while falling behind 17-5 and shooting only 18.5 percent from the floor in the first half, still only trailed 19-15 at halftime. Virginia Tech, which entere the break shooting 36.4 percent, also went scoreless for over eight minutes just before intermission.

The Hokies, taking advantage of another scoring drought by the Hurricanes that lasted nearly seven minutes, extended their lead to 32-22 on a 3-pointer by Barksdale midway through the second half. Miami got as close as 38-34 on a dunk by Erik Swoope, but the Hokies answered with a 7-2 run that included six points by Wilson and the Hurricanes never got closer than four the rest of the way.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Virginia Tech F Jarell Eddie, who had 24 points in the first meeting - including a game-winning jumper with 19 seconds left in overtime, didn't score in the first 25 minutes and finished with seven points and two rebounds. ... The Hokies played their seventh straight game without third-leading scorer G Adam Smith (11.0), who has a stress fracture in his left tibula, and also were without starting C Cadarian Raines (illness). ... Miami didn't have a turnover in the first half and finished with a total of just three.
