Texas Christian 71, Abilene Christian 64: Brandon Parrish scored 11 of his 15 points in the second half and the host Horned Frogs blew a 14-point lead after the break before rebuffing the pesky Wildcats for their first victory of the season.

Jarvis Ray scored 18 points as Texas Christian (1-2) won for only the third time in its last 22 games. Christian Gore added 14 points and seven rebounds and was 12-for-14 from the free throw line while his teammates were 12-for-23, and Karviar Shepherd grabbed a game-high nine rebounds.

Harrison Hawkins recorded 13 points, seven rebounds and six assists for the Wildcats (0-5), who entered the game 350th among the 351 Division I teams at 51.8 points per game. Austin Cooke added 12 points and seven boards while Parker Wentz scored 14 points and was 4-for-5 from beyond the arc

The first half featured five lead changes and three ties, and the Horned Frogs led by as many as six before settling for a 32-29 lead at the break. TCU increased the lead to 52-38 before Austin Cooke capped a 20-4 run on a 3-pointer to tie it with 4:59 remaining.

Kyan Anderson answered by scoring four of his five points in a 30-second span to give the Horned Frogs the lead back for good 62-58. TCU extended its lead to six when Parrish followed his own miss with a basket and coverted a layup the next time down the court to put the Horned Frogs ahead 69-63 with 46 seconds left.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Abilene Christian returned to the Division I ranks this season after spending the last 31 years as a Division II program and its roster consists of eight junior college transfers, five freshman and Wentz, a 5-9 sophomore. ... Entering the game, Abilene Christian was outscored 132-41 in its previous 54 minutes, 12 seconds since Maryland scored the final 29 points to defeat the Wildcats 67-44 on Wednesday and Iowa beat them 103-41 on Sunday. ...
