Michigan 87, Kansas 85 (OT): Mitch McGary scored a season-high 25 points and matched his season-best with 14 rebounds as the fourth-seeded Wolverines rallied from a 14-point deficit with just under seven minutes remaining in regulation to win the NCAA Tournament South Region semifinal in Arlington, Texas.

Trey Burke scored all 23 of his points in the second half and overtime, including a score-tying 3-pointer with five seconds remaining in regulation, and dished out 10 assists for Michigan (29-7), which will play third-seeded Florida on Sunday. Glenn Robinson III contributed 13 points, Nik Stauskas had 11 and Tim Hardaway, Jr. 10 for the Wolverines, who were playing in their first Sweet 16 since 1994.

Ben McLemore broke out of two-week slump and scored 20 points to lead top-seeded Kansas (31-6). Travis Releford added 16 points and six assists, Elijah Johnson scored 13 and Jeff Withey and Kevin Young finished with 12 points apiece for the Jayhawks.

Michigan scored six straight points in overtime to take an 87-82 lead with 1:04 left. Johnson sank a 3-pointer with 45 seconds remaining to cut the lead to two and the Jayhawks had a shot for the win but Naadir Tharpe’s 3-point attempt was off the mark as time expired.

The Wolverines went down by 14 points on a 3-pointer by Johnson with 6:51 left in regulation but they didn’t fade, instead outscoring Kansas 22-8 down the stretch. Burke’s 3-pointer with five seconds left in regulation tied the score and sent the game into overtime.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Johnson had two fouls in the game’s first 3:17, including a flagrant 1 on McGary, then went to the bench for the remainder of the first half after picking up No. 3 with 9:17 left. … Burke is the first Michigan player with at least 10 assists in an NCAA Tournament game since Jalen Rose in 1992. … McGary, a 6-10 freshman forward, recorded his season-high point total for the second consecutive game.
