Alex Len had 15 points, 13 rebounds and five blocked shots to lead the visiting Terrapins past the Crimson Tide to earn a berth in the NIT Final Four.

Len blocked a shot by Rodney Cooper with 3.1 seconds left and Alabama’s Trevor Lacey missed a last-second jumper as second-seeded Maryland (25-12) moves on to face either Virginia or Iowa in the semifinals on April 2 at New York’s Madison Square Garden.

Levi Randolph scored 15 points and Cooper added 13 for top-seeded Alabama (23-13). Jake Layman and Dez Wells added 13 points apiece for the Terrapins.

Maryland led 57-49 with 3:42 to play after back-to-back 3-pointers by Layman before the Crimson Tide battled back. A three-point play by Nick Jacobs got
Alabama within 58-55 with 1:25 left and Trevor Releford’s basket pulled the Crimson Tide within one with 47 seconds remaining.

The Terrapins finished the first half with a 15-7 burst to take a 31-24 halftime lead. Maryland increased the lead to 10 on a dunk by Len with 16:20 to play and never trailed in the second half.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Maryland was without freshman G Seth Allen, who broke his left hand in Sunday’s practice. … Alabama had a 12-game home winning streak snapped. … Terrapins F Chuck Mitchell was called for a flagrant 1 foul in the first half.
