No. 5 Georgetown 61, No. 16 Syracuse 39: Markel Starks scored 19 points and D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera had 15 as the host Hoyas secured the top seed in the Big East tournament by crushing the Orange in their last regular-season meeting as conference rivals.

Georgetown (24-5, 14-4 Big East) shot 40.9 percent from 3-point range and limited Syracuse (23-8, 11-7) to just one make in 11 attempts from behind the arc, clinching at least a share of the conference regular-season title for the 10th time. Otto Porter Jr. had 10 points, nine rebounds, five assists and zero turnovers for the Hoyas.

Michael Carter-Williams scored 17 points for Syracuse, which has lost four of its last five. His teammates combined to shoot 21.2 percent from the floor as the Orange recorded their fewest points in 1,225 games under coach Jim Boeheim.

Syracuse, which heads to the ACC next season, pulled within 20-18 on C.J. Fair's jumper with 2:07 left in the first half, but Georgetown scored the game's next 12 points as Starks fed Nate Lubick for a layup to increase the advantage to 32-18 with 18:46 remaining.

The Orange responded with seven straight points before a Porter jumper ignited a 12-2 burst. Georgetown took a 21-point lead on a Smith-Rivera 3-pointer with 7:22 to go and finished the game with their largest lead.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Porter was named as one of 15 finalists for the Wooden Player of the Year Award. ... Marquette and Louisville, who entered the day tied with Georgetown atop the standings, can earn a share of the crown if they win their respective games later Saturday. ... Syracuse still leads the head-to-head series 48-41.
