No 15 Georgetown 62, Cincinnati 55: Otto Porter Jr. scored 16 points, including a pair of free throws with 1:16 remaining that proved to be the game-winning points, as the visiting Hoyas took over sole possession of first place in the Big East with their seventh straight victory.

Markel Starks scored a game-high 17 points for Georgetown (19-4, 9-3), which held the Bearcats without a field goal for more than 6 1/2 minutes during a game-ending 12-4 run to snap a four-game losing skid to to the Bearcats.

Guard JaQuon Parker scored 15 points and Cashmere Wright and Sean Kilpatrick added 12 points apiece for Cincinnati (19-7, 7-6), which shot 31.5 percent from the floor, including 4-of-24 from 3-point range.

The teams entered the game ranked in the top three in the Big East in scoring defense, allowing less than 60 points, and the first half showed why. The two teams combined for 25 points in the first 11 1/2 minutes before Georgetown, which missed its first six shots, pulled out to a 31-25 halftime edge.

The Hoyas extended their lead to 12 points when a Nate Lubick jumper made it 43-31 with 15:17 left. But after Cincinnati went on an 13-3 run capped by a Parker jumper to take a 51-50 lead with 6:54 to go, the Hoyas clamped down and held the Bearcats to a pair of free throws over the next 6:32.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Wright had a steal 1:33 into the game to become the school's all-time leader in that category. Wright, who finished with three, entered the game tied with David "Puffy" Kennedy who had 189 steals from 1977-81. ... The Bearcats, who entered the game ranked No. 284 in free throw shooting (65.2 percent), were 17-of-30 from the free throw line. ... The Hoyas have allowed 60 or more points once in their last seven games.
