Virginia 65, Boston College 51: Justin Anderson and Akil Mitchell both scored 16 points as the Cavaliers pulled away in the second half of the ACC game.

The Cavaliers, ranked second in the nation in scoring defense, held the Eagles to nine points in the first 12 minutes of the second half and took control of the game with a 16-4 run.

After the Eagles tied the game on a three-point play by Ryan Anderson with 15:53 to play, Justin Anderson then hit a short jumper and Virginia went on a game-changing 11-0 run. Justin Anderson capped the run with a three-point play of his own to give Virginia (14-5, 4-2 ACC) a 42-31 lead with 10:57 left.

Ryan Anderson led Boston College with 14. Olivier Hanlan and Joe Rahon both scored 10 for the Eagles (9-10, 1-5), who lost their fourth straight.

Virginia led 15-6 early in the contest but Boston College immediately went on a 12-0 run and took a 26-24 lead into the break. The Eagles hit five 3-pointers in the first half but made just two after the intermission.

Paul Jesperson had seven rebounds for Virginia, which has won three straight.

Game notebook: Virginia coach Tony Bennett complained about his team's short turnaround. The Cavs won at Virginia Tech 74-58 on Thursday. ...The Cavaliers entered the game allowing 50.6 points and have held opponents under 40 points four times this season. ...Virginia shot 56.2 percent from the field.
