Arkansas 96, Mississippi State 70: Marshawn Powell scored 17 points and BJ Young came off the bench for the first time this season and scored 13 to lead the host Razorbacks in SEC play.

Coty Clarke also scored 13 points and Jacorey Williams had 10 for Arkansas (12-6, 3-2 SEC), which entered the game 14th in the nation in scoring at 78.6 points.

Fred Thomas scored 17 points, Gavin Ware had 11 points and eight rebounds and Craig Sword scored 10 for the Bulldogs (7-10, 2-3).

Powell scored eight of the first 14 points for the Razorbacks, helping them build a double-digit lead after five minutes. They led by as much as 14 in the first half before taking a 42-33 lead into the locker room. The Bulldogs stayed within striking distance until Arkansas scored 44 points over the final 15 minutes to pull away.

Mississippi State finished with a season-high 29 turnovers, which resulted in 42 points for the Razorbacks.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Razorbacks won their eighth straight home game and improved to 11-1 overall at Bud Walton Arena this season. … Mississippi State leading scorer Jalen Steele was limited to five points on 1-for-8 shooting. … Rashad Madden started in place of Young, the team's leading scorer this season, and finished with four points and five rebounds.
