Wake Forest 86, No. 18 North Carolina State 84: Freshman Devin Thomas had a season-high 25 points and 14 rebounds as the host Demon Deacons erased a 16-point deficit to stun the Wolfpack.

Thomas, a 6-9 forward whose previous high for points was 12, was 10-for-13 from the field and also blocked four shots while recording his first double-double as Wake Forest (10-8, 3-3 ACC) snapped a five-game losing streak to the Wolfpack. The Demon Deacons led 82-72 with 4:10 remaining before holding off a furious rally by North Carolina State.

Rodney Purvis scored 18 points while Richard Howell had 13 points and 16 rebounds for North Carolina State (15-4, 4-2 ACC). C.J. Leslie, the Wolfpack's leading scorer, missed three of four free throws in the final 1:01, and Leslie and Purvis missed short shots in the final 15 seconds that would have given N.C. State the lead.

The Wolfpack threatened to make it an early blowout with a 20-6 run to go ahead 27-13 before settling for a 47-35 lead at the break. Wake Forest opened the second half with a 14-6 run and back-to-back dunks by Travis McKie and Thomas following his steal gave the Demon Deacons a 66-64 lead - their first since 2-0 - with 9:57 remaining.

After the Wolfpack retook the lead, Wake Forest went on a 12-0 run before North Carolina State got within 83-82 on Leslie's free throw with 1:01 left. McKie had 16 points and eight rebounds for the Demon Deacons, while Lorenzo Brown recorded 13 points and 10 assists for the Wolfpack.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Wake Forest made 10-of-11 from the field during a 6:43 stretch of the second half to turn a six-point deficit into a four-point lead with 8:25 to go. ... Howell's basket with 2:51 left in the first half gave him 1,000 points, while Brown reached the plateau on a driving layup with 11:35 remaining. ... North Carolina State entered the game as one of seven teams in the country shooting 50 percent or better from the field at 51.1 percent, and shot 48.6 percent against Wake Forest.
