No. 8 Gonzaga 71, Portland 49: Kelly Olynyk scored 19 of his 21 points in the second half and the visiting Bulldogs downed the Pilots for their eighth consecutive victory.

Kevin Pangos scored 11 of his 14 points in the first half and Elias Harris had 10 points and nine rebounds for Gonzaga (17-1, 4-0 WCC), which defeated Portland for the 19th consecutive time.

Kevin Bailey scored 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting and Oskars Reinfelds had a career-high 12 points for the Pilots (8-11, 1-3), who have lost 33 of the last 34 meetings with Gonzaga.

The Zags wasted no time taking control by rattling off 13 straight points to take a 16-2 lead six-plus minutes into the contest. Portland pulled within five late in the half before Gonzaga tallied the final five of the stanza for a 36-26 halftime lead.

An 11-2 run early in the second half allowed the Bulldogs to stretch the lead to 54-36 with 13:25 to play. Portland was unable to make a run to get back into the game.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Pangos (four) and Drew Barham (three) combined for seven of Gonzaga’s nine 3-pointers. … The Pilots committed 17 turnovers. … The Bulldogs had a 34-19 rebounding edge, including 15 on the offensive boards.
