: Otto Porter Jr. scored 20 points and had a team-high seven rebounds to lead the host Hoyas past the Friars.

Markel Starks added 16 points and six assists for Georgetown (12-3, 2-2 Big East), which played its second straight game without suspended forward Greg Whittington. The Hoyas shot 53.2 percent (25-for-47) in winning their eighth straight against Providence.

Bryce Cotton led the Friars (9-8, 1-4) with 21 points. LaDontae Henton scored 14 points with 10 rebounds with Kadeem Batts adding 10 points and 11 boards.

Providence went more than seven minutes without a field goal between the end of the first half and the start of the second, falling behind by 22 points. However, the Friars would rally to within eight points on several occasions down the stretch and got within seven on Batts' free throws with 2:10 left.

Mikael Hopkins made two free throws for Georgetown and Starks hit three with just more than a minute left to extend the lead back to double digits. The Hoyas finished with 19 made foul shots, their second-highest total this season.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Friars starters were 5-for-24 (20.8 percent) from the floor in the first half. Hoyas starters were 13-for-20 (65 percent), helping Georgetown to a 38-19 halftime lead. ... Whittington is second on the Hoyas in scoring and rebounding. ... Providence outrebounded Georgetown 39-27.
