No. 18 Michigan State 62, Iowa 59: Branden Dawson scored 17 points and Gary Harris added 14 as the visiting Spartans rallied to defeat the Hawkeyes.

Michigan State (13-3, 2-1 Big Ten) finished on a 12-4 run to send Iowa (11-5, 0-3) to its third straight loss, all to ranked Big Ten opponents. Adreian Payne added 10 points off the bench for the Spartans and Keith Appling overcame a rough shooting night with six of his 12 points in the final two minutes.

Zach McCabe came off the bench to score a season-high 15 points and Melsahn Basabe added 14 for the Hawkeyes. Anthony Clemmons finished with a team-high six assists, but missed two big free throws and a potential game-tying 3-pointer in the final 16 seconds.

Basabe's layup with 2:16 left gave Iowa a 55-51 advantage. Appling answered with a jumper to ignite Michigan State's closing flourish. After a Basabe free throw, Harris was fouled shooting a 3-pointer and made all three attempts to forge a 56-56 tie with 64 seconds to go.

Appling made two free throws to make it 60-57 with 20 seconds left. Clemmons made 1 of 2 at the line moments later, but got his own rebound on the miss and was fouled again. However, he made just 1 of 2 again to leave Iowa a point short, and Appling's two free throws with nine seconds left finished the scoring.
