Romero Osby had 21 points and nine rebounds to help the visiting Sooners rally from a 12-point second-half deficit and spoil the Mountaineers’ inaugural game in the Big 12 Conference.

Oklahoma (10-3, 1-0 Big 12) took the lead for good on a game-ending 13-2 run. Steven Pledger added 12 points for the Sooners, who extended their winning streak to three games and improved to 2-1 on the road.

Terry Henderson scored 21 points, including six 3-pointers, to lead West Virginia (7-6, 0-1 Big 12). Jabarie Hinds had 11 points and Juwan Staten chipped in 10 for the Mountaineers, who dropped to 5-1 at home and had their three-game winning streak erased.

West Virginia led 35-29 at halftime. The Mountaineers extended their lead to 12 points, 43-31, on Staten’s layup with 17:58 to play. Oklahoma chipped away and took a 56-55 lead on Buddy Hield’s layup with 4:33 remaining and the Sooners never trailed again.

Oklahoma shot 44.3 percent (27-for-61) from the field, while West Virginia shot 30 percent (18-for-60). The Sooners outrebounded the Mountaineers 37-34 and committed 10 turnovers to West Virginia’s 14 miscues.

GAME NOTEBOOK: West Virginia coach Bob Huggins, the third-winningest active coach behind Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski and Syracuse’ Jim Boeheim, has 717 career wins and needs two to tie Don Haskins for 19th place on the NCAA Division I all-time list. … The Mountaineers made 11 3-pointers and have at least one in 436 consecutive games. … This was the second time this season the teams played each other. They met in a non-conference game in the Old Spice Classic on Nov. 25, and Oklahoma won, 77-70, to take third place. The Sooners are 3-1 in the series against West Virginia.
