Wisconsin 60, Penn State 51: Ryan Evans, Ben Brust, and Jared Berggren scored 13 points apiece as the host Badgers topped the Nittany Lions in the Big Ten opener for both teams.

Penn State pulled within 49-47 with 3:47 remaining before Wisconsin (10-4, 1-0 Big Ten) outscored the Nittany Lions 11-4 in the final minutes to snap Penn State's four-game winning streak.

Jermaine Marshall paced the Nittany Lions (8-5, 0-1) with 19 points on 9-for-14 shooting and D.J. Newbill added 12 points and eight rebounds. Ross Travis grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.

Penn State did not shoot a free throw in the first half and missed its lone second-half attempt. Mike Bruesewitz added 12 points and eight rebounds for Wisconsin, which shot 13-for-26 (50 percent) from the line.

The Badgers used a 19-2 run to lead by 13 with 1:18 left in the first half, but the Nittany Lions battled back after halftime and trailed by one with 2:53 remaining before Wisconsin drew clear and improved to 85-9 in Big Ten home games since 2001-02.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Wisconsin has held each of its last 17 home opponents to 60 points or less, dating to last season. … The Badgers committed just four turnovers compared to 15 for Penn State. … Wisconsin improved to 8-0 when holding opponents below 60 points.
