Washington State 59, Fresno State 50: Brock Motum scored 23 points and Mike Ladd added 19 as the host Cougars slipped by the Bulldogs.

Royce Woolridge tallied 11 points for Washington State (6-4), which limited Fresno State to one field goal over the final 12 1/2 minutes.

Jerry Brown had 12 points and five steals and Robert Upshaw and Allen Huddleston scored 10 points apiece for Fresno State (5-4), which missed 17 of its final 18 shots to finish at 30 percent from the field (18-for-60).

Ladd hit a tiebreaking 3-pointer to give Washington State a 48-45 lead with six minutes remaining. He added another key hoop with 2:58 left to start a 6-0 run that saw the Cougars take a 56-48 lead with 1:55 to play.

Washington State led 16-10 eight-plus minutes into the game before going cold and scoring just eight points the rest of the half. Fresno State’s Tyler Johnson hit a 3-pointer with 1:02 left to give the Bulldogs a 25-24 halftime advantage.
