Southern Miss 62, Georgia 60 (OT): Dwayne Davis' layup with 31 seconds left in overtime broke a 60-60 tie to give the Golden Eagles an overtime victory over the host Bulldogs in the Progressive Legends Classic.

Jerrold Brooks scored 17 points to lead Southern Miss (2-0), which has won both its games in overtime this season. The Golden Eagles blew a six-point lead late in the second half, but Michael Craig’s steal set up Davis’ game-winning basket in the extra session.

Georgia (1-2) had three shots in the final five seconds, but Kentavious Caldwell-Pope could not convert. Caldwell-Pope scored 17 points on 5-of-21 shooting to lead the Bulldogs, who play No. 1 Indiana on Monday.

Davis, who scored 14 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, scored with 4:30 left in regulation to give Southern Miss a 55-49 advantage. Georgia scored the final six points of regulation, tying the game on Nemanja Djurisic’s jumper with 1:26 left.


GAME NOTEBOOK: Sherrard Brantley hit a 40-footer at the first half buzzer for the Bulldogs. … Georgia forward Donte' Williams, who was suspended for the first two games for unspecified reasons, scored four points. … The Bulldogs shot 35 percent from the field in the first half. Georgia came into the game ranked 301st in the nation in field-goal percentage (36.3 percent).
