Notre Dame 92, Chicago State 65: Jerian Grant had 22 points and 10 assists - both season highs - to lead six players in double figures and the Fighting Irish rode an early 3-point barrage to a rout of the visiting Cougars.

Eric Atkins added 13 points and 11 assists and Garrick Sherman came off the bench to score 12 as Notre Dame (6-1) won its fourth consecutive game and dropped Chicago State (1-6) to its fifth straight defeat.

Jack Cooley had his fifth double-double of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds and Scott Martin scored all 11 of his points in the first half for the Irish, which shot 61 percent (36-for-59). Clarke Rosenberg paced the Cougars with a season-high 16 points.

Notre Dame came out firing from behind the arc and connected on nine of 12 attempts, including back-to-back 3-pointers by Martin and Pat Connaughton that ignited an 8-0 spurt and built the lead to 35-23 en route to a 51-32 halftime edge.

Chicago State used an 11-2 spurt early in the second half to whittle a 22-point deficit to 13, but the Fighting Irish responded by hitting their next seven shots and ripping off 18 unanswered points to push the lead to 78-47 with just over 8 1/2 minutes to play.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Fighting Irish improved to 45-0 under coach Mike Brey during the month of November and moved to 64-1 in their last 65 non-conference games at Purcell Pavilion heading into Thursday's home game against defending national champion Kentucky. .... Chicago State swingman Quinton Pippen, the nephew of former Chicago Bulls standout Scottie Pippen, had eight points, four assists and three rebounds. ... Martin returned to the starting lineup for Notre Dame after sitting out the Saturday's game against St. Francis (Pa.) with a sore knee and nailed three 3-pointers as the Irish shot 10-for-16 from the arc in the first half.
