No. 21 Wisconsin 87, Southeastern Louisiana 47: Ben Brust scored 14 points and added 11 rebounds to lead the No. 21 Badgers over the Lions in the season opener for both teams.

Wisconsin jumped out to a 19-0 lead and led by as many as 28 in the first half on the way to a 43-17 halftime lead.The Badgers (1-0) didn't let up after the break, going on a 9-2 run to start the second half on the way to the blowout win.

Jared Berggren pitched in 19 points and eight rebounds for Wisconsin (1-0), which outrebounded Southeastern Louisiana 47-17 and posted 24 second-chance points.

Dre Evans led the offense for the Lions (0-1) with 13 points on 4-of-7 shooting, including 3 of 3 from beyond the arc. SLU shot just 35.2 percent from the floor.

The Badgers got everyone into the mix with nine players recording five or more points.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Wisconsin's defense picked up right where it left off last season, when it led the nation allowing just 53.2 points per game... Southeastern Louisiana has won just one of its last 15 road games... The Badgers got forward Mike Bruesewitz back somewhat unexpectedly and he contributed 10 points in 13 minutes of action. The senior was expected to miss up to two more weeks after a nasty leg laceration suffered late in the off-season.
