Stanford 75, Minnesota 51: Aaron Bright and Chasson Randle scored 15 points apiece and Stanford dominated the second half to win its second NIT championship.

Leading by six at halftime, third-seeded Stanford (26-11) opened the second half on a 31-12 run and led by 25 with seven minutes to play.

Anthony Brown had 11 points for Stanford, which last won the NIT title in 1991. The Cardinal held sixth-seeded Minnesota (23-15) to 36.5 percent shooting, including 3 of 13 from beyond the arc.

Minnesota’s Rodney Williams, who scored at least 18 points in his five previous games, was held to 12 points on 4-of-10 shooting before fouling out late in the game. Austin Hollins had 10 points and seven rebounds.

Stanford, which improved to 20-1 when scoring at least 70 points, forced 21 Minnesota turnovers and outrebounded the Gophers 37-29.

Jarrett Mann added nine points and four steals for Stanford, which shot 57 percent from the field in the second half and 50 percent overall.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Minnesota coach Tubby Smith was attempting to become the 10th coach in NCAA history to win an NCAA title and NIT title. …The game marked the end of Stanford assistant coach Dick Davey’s 44-year coaching career. Davey, who announced his retirement earlier this season, coached Santa Clara for 15 years. ... Minnesota’s Andre Hollins was held to four points after averaging 17.8 points in four NIT games. … Stanford improved to 12-4 in six NIT appearances.
