Terrence Ross scored a career-high 32 points, including six 3-pointers, and the Huskies dominated the second half to roll in the second round of the NIT.

Ross was 10-of-21 shooting and grabbed eight rebounds as top-seeded Washington (23-10) advanced to face either third-seeded Oregon or seventh-seeded Iowa in the quarterfinals on Tuesday.

The fourth-seeded Wildcats (19-14) trailed by seven at halftime despite shooting 57.9 percent from the field as Washington scored 18 points off 11 Northwestern first-half turnovers.

Washington broke the game open by starting the second half with a 19-6 run, capped by C.J. Wilcox’s 3-pointer with 12 minutes left. The Huskies made 11 of their season-high 32 3-point attempts and improved to 17-2 at home.

Senior John Shurna, the Wildcats all-time leading scorer, had 24 points and six rebounds in his final game. Alex Marcotullio added 11 points for the Wildcats, who were outrebounded 43-24.

Wilcox scored 20 points and Aziz N'Diaye added 11 points and seven boards for the Huskies, who outscored the Wildcats 37-23 in the second half.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Tony Wroten Jr. had seven assists to set Washington’s freshman record with 128 this season. He also had eight rebounds. … Northwestern lost an NIT game in the state of Washington for the second straight year. The Wildcats were eliminated by Washington State in overtime last season. … After averaging 18.7 points over his last three games, Wildcats guard JerShon Cobb had only eight against Washington. … The Huskies haven't lost at home to a non-Pac-12 opponent since March 14, 2008 against Valparaiso.
