Carlon Brown scored 23 points as Colorado salvaged seventh place in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off with an 81-76 victory over Western Michigan on Sunday.

Brown’s basket with 4:19 to go gave Colorado the lead for good at 71-69 in the first meeting between the Broncos and the Buffaloes. The game featured 12 ties and nine lead changes in the second half.

Austin Dufault added 16 points and eight rebounds for Colorado (2-2), including a driving basket with 58 seconds left to push the Buffaloes lead to 77-73.

Shane Harris-Tunks, who missed last season with a torn ACL, had eight points and eight rebounds as Colorado enjoyed a 38-30 advantage on the boards.

Matt Stainbrook finished with 20 points and eight rebounds for Western Michigan (0-4), which led by 12 in the first half.

Colorado’s Andre Roberson, who entered the game sixth in the nation at 12.7 rebounds, was plagued by foul trouble.After he sprained his ankle during warm-ups, Roberson picked up his second foul 3:02 into the game. He didn’t re-enter until the second half, when he picked two quick fouls and returned to the bench. Roberson came back with 7:58 left and finished with six rebounds before fouling out.

Colorado took its first lead 36-35 when Dufault’s dunk 56 seconds into the second half capped a 5-0 run to start the period.
